Drip irrigation uses plastic pipes to deliver water to the roots of crops through holes or emitters on a pipe with a diameter of about 10mm for localized irrigation. It is currently an effective water-saving irrigation method in arid and water-scarce areas, with a water utilization rate of up to 95%. Drip irrigation has a higher water-saving and yield-increasing effect compared to sprinkler irrigation, and it can also be combined with fertilization to improve fertilizer efficiency by more than double. It is suitable for irrigating fruit trees, vegetables, cash crops, and greenhouse crops, and can also be used for irrigating field crops in arid and water-scarce areas. Its drawback is that emitters are prone to scaling and clogging, so strict filtration treatment of the water source is necessary.
Sprinkler irrigation uses machinery and power equipment to spray water through nozzles (or spray heads) into the air, allowing it to fall to the field in the form of raindrops. Sprinkler irrigation equipment consists of components such as inlet pipes, pumps, water delivery pipes, distribution pipes, and nozzles (or spray heads), and can be either fixed or mobile. It has advantages such as saving water, not damaging the soil structure, regulating ground climate, and being unaffected by terrain.
